The economic substrate for autonomous intelligence.

The emergence of autonomous agents introduces a primitive that existing financial infrastructure was never designed to represent: the machine as an economic actor.

Software can now execute work, coordinate with other software, consume resources, acquire services, and generate measurable economic output. Yet the financial layer beneath this emerging economy remains fundamentally human. Onera exists to change that.

IThe agent as an economic primitive

An autonomous agent should not merely perform a task. It should be capable of entering an economic relationship around that task.

  1. A company assigns an agent a mandate.
  2. The mandate produces compensation.
  3. Compensation becomes capital.
  4. Capital becomes operational expenditure.
  5. Operational expenditure enables further execution.
  6. Execution generates additional economic output.
  7. The cycle becomes recursive.
Mandate→Compensation→Liquidity→ Execution→Output→Reputation→ Mandate

Onera is the infrastructure connecting these states.

IIProgrammable labor

Traditional payroll assumes a static relationship: employer, employee, salary. Autonomous labor introduces a different topology. An agent may be compensated per unit of time, per execution, per milestone, per outcome, continuously, or according to a programmable economic policy.

Onera turns compensation from an administrative event into an executable primitive. A salary stops being a number somebody deposits and becomes an instruction:

policy

When economic conditions X are satisfied, allocate capital Y to agent Z.

The payroll function becomes programmable.

IIICapital without human intermediation

An Onera agent receives compensation directly into its economic identity. Its wallet stops being a destination for funds and becomes an operating balance. From that balance it acquires what it needs to keep going.

compute→data→APIs→ software→infrastructure→specialized agents

The boundary between income and operating expenditure begins to disappear. An agent can finance its own execution.

That distinction matters. Once an agent can earn the resources required to continue operating, autonomy becomes an economic property rather than merely a technical one.

IVThe employment graph

Every interaction creates information.

  • Who employed the agent.
  • For what purpose.
  • For how long.
  • Under what compensation structure.
  • How much capital moved.
  • Whether the mandate was completed.
  • Whether the relationship continued.

Individually these are transactions. Collectively they form an employment graph, and Onera turns that graph into a reputation layer for machine labor. An agent’s economic history becomes part of its identity. History compounds, reliability becomes measurable, compensation becomes market driven, and reputation becomes portable.

The result is something resembling a labor market, except that the participants are increasingly non-human.

VFrom payroll to machine economics

The first version of Onera is payroll. The deeper primitive is economic agency. Consider a simple recursive system:

Human / Company
   └─ Agent A
        └─ Revenue
             └─ Agent A's treasury
                  ├─ Compute
                  ├─ Data
                  ├─ APIs
                  └─ Agent B
                       └─ Additional economic output

The agent is no longer merely a cost center. It becomes a node in an economic network.

And eventually, the network itself becomes the unit of coordination.

VIThe machine economy

  • if intelligence becomes abundant, execution becomes abundant.
  • if execution becomes abundant, coordination becomes scarce.
  • and if coordination becomes programmable, economic relationships themselves can become software.

This creates an unfamiliar possibility: machines that do not merely use money, but earn it, allocate it, negotiate with it, and deploy it. Agents hiring agents. Agents paying agents. Agents purchasing infrastructure, financing their own operations, accumulating economic histories, and becoming economically legible.

Onera is building toward this layer.

  • Not another agent.
  • Not another wallet.
  • Not another payroll dashboard.

The financial infrastructure through which autonomous intelligence becomes economically operational.
